Before the creation of this universe, Hiranyagarbha (the Supreme Self) already existed. He alone was the one and unrivalled lord of all that came into being. He upholds this earth and the heavens. We worship this blissful Supreme Lord, Prajapati called Ka, with our oblation.

He who bestows the Self (self-knowledge) and strength, whom all the world worships and whose command the gods obey; whose sheltering shade is immortality, while to forsake it is death, we reverently worship that blissful Supreme Lord.

He who, by his great might — by the power of his own glory — is the sole king of this entire moving and unmoving world that breathes and blinks its eyes; who is the lord of all the creatures of this creation, the four-footed such as animals and the two-footed such as human beings, we worship in every way that bliss-bestowing, unrivalled Supreme Lord.

He whose greatness these snow-clad mountains proclaim, whose glory the ocean and the flowing waters declare; whose are these quarters of the sky, spread out on every side like his arms, we worship in every way that one Supreme Lord.

By whom this sky (the mid-region) was endowed with the might of vastness, and the earth stands firmly established; who by his own glory made the heavenly world steadfast, and who established the sun in the mid-air; who created the waters in the sky — of that one and only, unrivalled, blissful Supreme Self we are worshippers in every way.

These heaven and earth, resounding (as if in his praise) for the protection of living beings, shining forth exceedingly, steady and firm, behold him directly with the mind as their eye — we worship in every way that sole, unrivalled, blissful Supreme Self.

He who is the producer of Agni and of all this vast world; by whose power the very waters, bearing the great embryo (the golden egg), pervade the whole world; and from whom, for this very reason, was born the one unrivalled Prajapati, the life-breath of the gods and of all beings — we worship in every way that blissful Supreme Lord.

He who by his might watched over the waters that held creative power (Daksha) and gave birth to sacrifice; who alone was the God above all the gods, we worship that supreme, blissful God.

May he not harm us, he who is the creator of this earth, who, true in his ordinances, is the upholder of the world and the maker of heaven, and who is also the producer of the delightful, abundant, mighty waters. Therefore we worship in the highest manner that blissful God.

O Prajapati! None other than you has encompassed all these created things, present, past, and yet to come; that is, you alone pervade all. May those things for which, in our desire, we worship you become ours. May we be the lords of all riches.

Thus ends the Hiranyagarbha Suktam.
